The acting director, Nigerian Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman has said the Nigerian Army has sent a 12-man list of senior officers to the EFCC for investigation in the probe in the arms deal scandal.
A statement he sent out reads, “The Nigerian Army wishes to inform the public that 12 Army officers have been sent to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), for investigation. This comprised of 3 serving Major Generals, and one retired, 3 Brigadier Generals, 4 Colonels and 1 Lieutenant Colonel.
"However, it should be noted that at the end of the Commission’s investigations those found culpable will be tried by a military Court Martial.”
The question is, was their crime against the army, against the Nigerian public or both. These officers are first and foremost citizen and any civil crime must be punished according to civil laws and regulations.
ReplyDeleteIf these officers broke any military code of conduct or ethnics, they should be subject to the military justice.
These crimes cannot be treated as mutually exclusive.
