Liverpool
have completed a deal for Polish youth international Kamil Grabara,
making the 16-year-old goalkeeper their second signing of the January
transfer window. The young keeper is likely to be inducted straight into
their academy, where he will train with the youth team and gain
valuable experience before making a move into the senior 11.
The Mirror reports that a fee worth £250,000 ($365,750) was struck between Liverpool and Ruch Chorzow, which facilitated the move and allowed the Reds to beat Manchester United and Manchester City to his signature. The move comes straight after Liverpool announced the transfer of 19-year-old midfielder Marko Grujic from Red Star Belgrade, who will be loaned back to the Serbian club till the end of the season.
Grujic has signed a four-and-a half-year deal with the Reds and will start his career at Anfield from the start of the next season, when he will be assessed and given a verdict on his first team chances for the year. The midfielder was part of the Serbia team which won the U20 World Cup in 2015.
"I'm very excited and so proud to be here and a member of Liverpool Football Club. I can't wait to get started, play at Anfield and train at Melwood," Grujic told Liverpool's official website. "I was thinking about my progress in my next period and decided it was good for me to come here and try to be the best I can.
"I want to play in front of one of the loudest set of fans in Europe at Anfield. I also like the atmospheres at other stadiums, the crowds are very good. I like to play under pressure and that's why I've come here — because it brings out the best in me."
Jurgen Klopp is now likely to shift his attention to the shortcomings in the first team, with a defender signing likely on the agenda. The Reds are potentially without four of their first choice centre-backs, with Martin Skrtel out till February with a hamstring tear and Dejan Lovren joining him to take the total number of hamstring issues to six under Klopp. Mamadou Sakho was unavailable for their FA Cup tie against Stoke with a knock on his knee while Klolo Toure hobbled off at the end with what was later described as cramps by the manager.
