Troops, Friday morning repelled an attack by Boko Haram fighters in the Gwoza area.
Sources told DAILY POST that the sect members suspected to have come from Sambisa Forest opened fire on troops at about 4am.
In the ensuing battle that lasted about 3 hours, many fighters were killed as the fire power of the troops sent them scampering.
Many arms and ammunition were recovered.
Normalcy has returned to Gwoza.
Gwoza is one of the territories recovered recently by the Nigerian Army.
