A suspected thief, 22 year old Timothy Ojomandu who was captured by the police in Lagos, said his posse constantly sold stolen things to purchasers amid overwhelming movement at the Tin-Can Port, Apapa.
As indicated by Punch, Ojomandu was captured in the Mile 2 zone on Saturday at around 7pm, while professedly ransacking with 2 other group individuals amid the gridlock, yet the other 2 got away from the scene.
It was learnt that Ojomandu sneaked into a truck conveying containers of cell batteries, heading for the Ijora range, and uprooted two containers of the item before he was gotten.
The police said the truck's driver, Mr. Ajiboye Mogaji, had raised the caution amid the operation, which pulled in policemen connected to the Rapid Response Squad to the scene.
Amid cross examination, Ojomandu said:
"I have a place with a pack, and we looted people on foot and drivers amid the crest time of activity clog in the Mile 2 range. I was a transport conductor before our pioneer, one Victor Chibowu, acquainted me with burglary.
"We for the most part offer all our stolen merchandise to purchasers in the Tin-Can Island range. One of them is Mr. Gawo. He has shops in the Tin-Can Island territory. It was the group pioneer who for the most part took the merchandise to him after every operation."
The truck's driver, Mogaji, on giving his announcement said:
"When I saw him sneaking into my truck, I imagined as though I didn't see him. While inside the truck, he passed one container to his accomplice who was moving close to the vehicle. When I saw him passing it, I hurried down on movement.
"At the point when the other group individuals saw me, they fled with the item. While the suspect needed to flee as well, I held him by the trousers, while I yelled for help. Policemen watching the range then appeared at the scene."
The RRS Commander, Olatunji Disu, said the suspect has been exchanged to the state Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further examination.
