Permanent secretaries in Osun State have
flayed the former Head of Service, Mr. Segun
Akinwusi, for "raising false allegations" on the
state's finances.
In a statement, their spokesman, Olusegun
Aduroja, said the former HoS was expected to
put the state's interest before his political
ambition.
Akinwusi, who is aspiring for the governorship
seat on the platform of the Unity Party of
Nigeria (UPN), in a newspaper report alleged
that the state government borrowed N320
billion in the last two and a half years.
Aduroja, who is the permanent secretary in the
Ministry of Information and Strategy, said: "We
recall that as the HoS, was a bonafide member
of the State Executive Council, which
formulated and executed programmes of the
current administration.
"We are also aware that he taught us the ethos
of the service in respect of integrity, loyalty
and unflinching support for the government of
the day.
"We are surprised that his current ambition,
which culminated into sending out weird
messages through the social media to canvass
for support, compromises the integrity of the
service he contributed immensely to build. It
is equally a moral burden for him.
"We would not have been worried about the
content and character of the messages, if they
had been founded on truth. We are dissatisfied
to note with chagrin that somebody, who
served at the zenith of the Civil Service, could
turn round to concoct lies and denigrate the
same administration that benevolently allowed
him to retire with full and sundry
unprecedented benefits.
"We are very surprised that a personality of his
status would neglect facts for fiction vis-a-vis
his assumed phantom debt profile and other
issues in respect of the state government."
Aduroja pledged the support of permanent
secretaries to the Governor Rauf Aregbesola
administration, saying it is the best in the
state's history.
