Chelsea could be without Super Eagles
midfielder John Obi Mikel for their opening
Champions League clash against Basle on
Wednesday due to a knee injury sustained in
Sunday's match away to Everton at Goodison
Park.
The midfielder who made his first start in the
league against Everton had treatment on the
knee injury on Monday.
Though the Nigerian trained on Tuesday
morning, his right knee was heavily strapped
and with support tape down the back of the
knee.
Chelsea are already without Ramires, who got
sent off in the Uefa Super Cup clash against
Bayern Munich – a match Chelsea lost on
penalties after a 2-2 result after extra time.
Chelsea beat FC Basle on their way to winning
last season’s Uefa Europa League and Frank
Lampard may have to be recalled into the
starting line-up after missing out against
Everton last Sunday.
