Gareth Bale at Spurs training on
Wednesday and faces a growing battle to
keep his star man at Tottenham
Gareth Bale will report to Tottenham
Hotspur's training ground in turmoil today
as the prospect of a world-record £85
million transfer to Real Madrid threatens
to boil over into acrimony.
Bale is growing increasingly frustrated at
the hardline stance of Spurs chairman
Daniel Levy, who the Wales international
believes is determined to block his move,
and fears the saga is in danger of running
to the end of the transfer window at the
beginning of September.
Real's £85 million offer for Bale remains
but Levy, who is in Miami, is refusing to
back down from his insistence that the
winger is not for sale, even at such a
staggering price, although there were
indications last night that if the Welshman
does leave, Spurs might try to trump
north London rivals Arsenal to the signing
of Liverpool striker Luis Suárez.
